I'm serious about editing — but not too serious to enjoy a good laugh over it!
Love2EDIT
Professional Copyediting
Welcome to the online home of Darlene Catlett, professional copyeditor.

Fiction & Non-Fiction Book Editing
The Line Editor will go over each sentence to make sure your manuscript is ready for publication. She assists with rewriting or rewording sections that need help, but she’s not going to re-write the storyline. Her job is to improve readability and ensure that your word choices contribute to the tone. She works to eliminate wordiness, redundancy, and clichés. [2¢ per word]
The Copyeditor checks for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and word usage. She has an eye on consistency and cohesiveness, and she may do minimal re-writing. [1.5¢ per word]
A Line and Copy Edit includes all of the above. [2.5¢ per word]
The Proofreader reads your book from cover to cover after layout. She looks for “bad breaks” (incorrect syllable breaks), typos, and other minor issues, but she does not re-write anything. [0.5¢ per word]

Quality
Love2Edit is more than a simple proofreading service.
Your book is edited by a seasoned professional who has worked with authors and publishers in multiple genres.
Choose between a redline mark-up, highlights and comments, an editorial letter, or any combination of these methods.
Before I commit to work on your manuscript, I require you to complete a short questionaire and submit one chapter of your choice (4,000 words maximum) for a sample edit, at the cost of $50. This fee is non-refundable, but it will count toward the total project cost if I issue you a contract.

When my publisher suggested I self-publish a companion leader’s guide to my inspirational memoir, I reached out to Darlene Catlett. She not only edited my work, but formatted each page to the required specifications.
I appreciated Darlene’s gracious guidance, timely communication, and encouraging support all along the way—in a timeframe that met my deadline.

Darlene Catlett is an exceptional editor with strong organizational skills and an eye for detail.
We have worked together as coeditors for twelve years, and she has proven to be consistent, thorough, and accurate. Not only that, Darlene is gracious and kind, a pleasure to work with.
I highly recommend Darlene Catlett to anyone who is looking for an editor with a high level of professionalism.

Darlene edited my first book, Life Lessons From My “Papa,” which was published in 2012.
It had already been non-professionally edited by a dear friend who had a degree in English and another dear friend who also published her own curriculum. I thought it was “good to go” until I decided to hire Darlene. She brought it to a whole new level, and she was excellent to work with. Her skill and reliability brought me great peace. Her work was done in a timely fashion. She made me sound great.
I am forever grateful, and would totally hire her again. In fact, my second book is in the process. There is no need for me to shop around. Thank you once again, Darlene.
